Everton in transfer tussle to sign Hamza Igamane, make approach

Everton are interested in Rangers striker Hamza Igamane as the forward’s proposed move to LOSC Lille might have come into some doubt.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Everton are among the clubs keeping close tabs on Hamza Igamane’s situation this summer. The Moroccan striker’s proposed move to LOSC Lille is under jeopardy, which has allowed the Toffees to think about a swoop for the 19 G/A striker from Scottish club Rangers.

David Moyes wants to bring some key attacking signings this summer following the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as well as Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom. The former left as a free agent after his contract expired, while the latter duo returned to Leeds United and Napoli after their loan spells ended.

Everton do have Beto as a centre-forward option, while they have already signed Thierno Barry. The two can ideally compete for the solitary striker’s role, but Moyes appears to want another option for his side. The manager would prefer someone versatile to play in various front three positions.

Everton are in a tussle for Hamza Igamane, who had a productive season with Rangers with 19 goal contributions across all competitions. The striker was close to joining LOSC Lille as talks between the Ligue 1 side and Rangers continue, but they are far apart in their respective valuation of the attacker.

Igamane has already agreed on personal terms with Lille, but their inability to conclude the deal has allowed many teams into the mix. As things stand, Everton could try their best to swoop in for the 19 G/A striker from Scottish club Rangers, who has been a player of interest since March.

Hamza Igamane will give Everton a new dimension

Igamane has only been at Rangers for one season and, having made a necessary impact, he might be ready for a big switch away from the Scottish giants. A move to France appears to have appealed to the attacker, but if the proposed move to Lille continues to stall, he might think about the prospect of playing in the Premier League.

A rejuvenated Everton side might be a solid enough option as Moyes is looking for a long-term option. Hamza Igamane can play across the front three positions and could potentially give a different dimension to the Toffees’ attack, which has lacked ideas over the last few seasons.  Whether Moyes’ side can conclude a deal remains to be seen as Lille might still be the front runners.
