Parma eyeing Fabio Vieira swoop, price tag an issue

Parma are interested in acquiring the services of Arsenal attacking midfielder Fabio Vieira, but the price tag is a massive hurdle for them.

According to a report from Gazzetta di Parma, Parma are keen on signing Fabio Vieira this summer as they look to add more creativity to their team. The Arsenal attacking midfielder is willing to make the move to a Serie A club and reunite with Carlos Cuesta, who has just taken charge as their manager.

Vieira came up the ranks and made a name for himself while playing for FC Porto before joining the Gunners in the summer of 2022. While the North London club had a lot of expectations from the former Portuguese youth international, he has failed to deliver.

The Portuguese midfielder spent the 2024/25 season on loan at his childhood club. He was involved in a total of 42 matches and ended up contributing towards 11 goals. While he did a decent job, and FC Porto were keen on securing his services permanently, they failed to strike a deal with the Gunners.

While Vieira is back at his parent club, he has no future under Mikel Arteta. The player is keen on parting ways with the Premier League giants, and even the club are ready to sanction his departure for a fee of around €20 million.

Parma are pushing for Vieira’s signature

Parma have emerged as a potential destination for the 25-year-old. The Serie A club are in the market for more quality in midfield as Simon Sohm has been linked with a move away from the club. While Vieira is a more attacking option, Carlos Cuesta is keen on having him in his squad.

Cuesta, who was the assistant manager at Arsenal until last season, has just taken charge as Parma’s boss. He is a big admirer of the Portuguese attacking midfielder. The Parma manager is pushing for Vieira’s signature, and the player is also keen on reuniting with him.

The report suggests he would be willing to lower his wage demands, with Vieira currently earning €3 million per season. While Arsenal’s €20 million asking price is a massive stumbling block, Parma are hopeful of finding a middle ground during negotiations. The Serie A club are happy to play the waiting game as they are aware that any potential deal could take a lot of time.
