Liverpool will launch move for Alexander Isak if he pushes for Newcastle United exit

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak during the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United are unwilling to let Alexander Isak leave the club this summer, and Liverpool would require a substantial effort to get the deal done. According to a report by Football Insider, the Premier League champions will now make a move for the player only if he decides to force an exit from St. James’ Park.

If the Swede decides to force a transfer, Liverpool will have the upper hand in negotiations. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. However, recent reports have linked him with Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.

Liverpool need a reliable finisher, and they have been linked with Hugo Ekitike as well. They need to replace Darwin Nunez during the summer transfer window. The Uruguayan International scored only seven goals last season, and Liverpool cannot hope to regularly win major trophies with someone like him leading the line.

Isak was the best striker in the Premier League last season, and he could be a tremendous acquisition. The Swedish international could transform Liverpool in the attacking unit and form a solid partnership with Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool need Isak to force the move

“The only way this situation changes is if Isak pushes for a move to Liverpool”, Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider before adding, “That will give them real encouragement that they could get this deal done, despite Newcastle demanding a huge fee for him.

“It all comes down to the player now; if he wants to move to Liverpool, he might have to force the issue, and that might get the ball rolling. I don’t think Isak’s shut the door on a potential move away, and that’s probably the biggest concern for Newcastle.

“There’s possibly talks going on behind the scenes for Alexander Isak, that if Liverpool could get to a figure, Newcastle reluctantly could sell. They want to keep him and I think it would take a lot more than £120million, which has been suggested to sign Isak.”

It will be interesting to see what the player decides. Isak may be tempted to join a big club this summer. The 25-year-old Swede has already won a domestic trophy with Newcastle United, and he has taken them to the UEFA Champions League. He will feel that he needs to join a bigger club where he will be able to win league titles.

Liverpool could provide him with the platform he needs right now. Joining them would be ideal for him at this stage of his career. He would get to play alongside elite players, and that could bring out the best in him.
