Bayern Munich keen on Malo Gusto and Renato Veiga

Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich are planning a double swoop on Chelsea for defensive duo Malo Gusto and Renato Veiga.

Bayer Munich’s priority this summer is to reinforce their attack, but they could also look to add more quality and depth to their backline. According to a report from CF Bayern Insider, Bayern Munich are interested in the services of Malo Gusto and Renato Veiga. They are plotting a raid on Chelsea for the defensive duo.

Gusto made a name for himself coming up the ranks and playing for Olympique Lyon’s first team. His impressive rise caught Chelsea’s eye, and they secured his services at the start of 2023. He stayed at the French club for another six months before moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

While Gusto had a very important role last season, he might not be a regular this time around with skipper Reece James back fit. However, the Blues would still love to have him in their squad and with his contract running until 20230, they are in a very comfortable position with regards to his future.

Meanwhile, Veiga joined the London club last summer from FC Basel. While the 21-year-old did feature in 18 matches for them, he could establish himself as a key figure in Ezno Maresca’s team and ended up spending the second half of last season on loan at Juventus.

Despite his massive potential and a contract that runs until 2031, the Blues could still consider parting ways with him if the right offer arrives. With Maresca looking to trim down his squad, he could end up leaving the club.

Bayern Munich could knock on Chelsea’s door

Both Gusto and Veiga are on Bayern’s wishlist. The German giants might be prioritising reinforcing their attack, but they could be in the market for defenders if a few of their players end up leaving. They are massive admirers of Gusto, thanks to his impressive performances last season, and are also keeping a close eye on Veiga.

Gusto could add more competition at right-back, while Veiga could prove to be a valuable addition thanks to his versatility. While they would love to have the duo in their squad, they will have to offload players first to make it happen.

Sacha Boey’s potential departure could make room for the French international’s signing. Meanwhile, Veiga could come in to replace Kim Min-jae, who has been linked with a move away since the start of the transfer window.
