Leeds United begin negotiations to sign Igor Paixao
Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Brazilian winger Igor Paixao from Eredivisie club Feyenoord in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Sky Sports journalists Anthony Joseph and Zinny Boswell, Igor Paixao is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Feyenoord winger has emerged as a target for the West Yorkshire outfit.
The newly promoted Premier League club and Feyenoord have begun talks over a deal for the Macapa native. Meanwhile, reputed Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has suggested that the Eredivisie outfit will demand over €30 million to part ways with Paixao. However, the deal will be complicated, with Leeds United reluctant to meet the valuation.
Igor Paixao and his fine Feyenoord spell
Igor Paixao has established himself as one of the best players in the Eredivisie since joining Feyenoord from Coritiba FC in August 2022. The 25-year-old rose in prominence in the 2024/25 season, and he produced exceptional returns. He contributed to 37 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 18 times and providing 19 assists.
The Brazilian attacker’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the Feyenoord attacking mainstay, with Leeds United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Leeds United’s interest in Igor Paixao is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a productive wide attacker this summer as they aim to sustain the challenge of remaining in the Premier League beyond the 2025/26 season. While Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto, and Largie Ramazani were impressive last term, Daniel Farke wants more firepower in the final third.
Several candidates, including Jeremie Boga, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Paixao also a viable target. The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners have opened talks to sign the Feyenoord winger. However, the Eredivisie club’s price tag of over €30 million is posing problems for the newly promoted Premier League club.
The Whites do not want to fork out over €30 million to sign the 25-year-old Brazilian winger in the summer transfer window. However, Feyenoord recently rebuffed a lower bid from Marseille, with Leeds United aware of the rejection. A summer deal may thus take some time before it sees the light of day.
