Hugo Ekitike submits transfer request to seal Liverpool move

Liverpool’s pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike has received a major boost after the forward submitted a transfer request.

According to a report from Sport Bild, Hugo Ekitike is closing in on a move to Liverpool as the Premier League outfit are all set to meet the German club’s demands. The Frenchman has handed in a transfer request as he pushes for a move to Anfield this summer.

While things did not work out for Ekitike, he has certainly made the most out of his move to Frankfurt. It was an initial loan deal, which was made permanent last summer. In his first full season at the club, the 23-year-old striker scored 22 goals and bagged 12 assists in his 48 outings across competitions.

The French striker’s exceptional performances have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world. While the Bundesliga club are reluctant to sell, they are ready to let him go as long as their asking price of €100 million is met.

Liverpool and Newcastle United are two Premier League clubs that have been pushing for his signature. The Magpies even submitted an initial €80 million offer, but it was turned down by Eintracht Frankfurt, who are holding out on their demands.

While Newcastle United did not have the green light from the player, they were looking to put pressure on him by agreeing to a deal with the German club. However, things have not gone according to plan for the Tyneside club, and they have already started looking at alternatives.

Liverpool close to securing Ekitike’s services

With Eddie Howe’s team taking a back seat, things have become a lot easier for Liverpool. The Reds already have a complete agreement with the player, and he is set to pen a deal that will run until 2031. Following the green light from the Frenchman, they have been in talks to agree a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt.

The German club are increasingly hopeful that their demands for the 23-year-old striker will be met. The player is pushing for a move to Anfield. He has already informed people at the club about his desire and has recently handed in a transfer request.

Liverpool seem to have already hinted to Eintracht Frankfurt that they are set to table an offer close to their €100 million asking price. With an offer on the way, the Reds should be able to get a deal over the line in the near future.
