Darwin Nunez ready to move to Saudi Arabia

Liverpool’s quest to sell Darwin Nunez could accelerate as the player might be open to the idea of joining the Saudi Pro League.

According to TBR, Darwin Nunez could be open to the prospect of joining the Saudi Pro League if his future is not sorted out at Liverpool. Arne Slot has made it clear that the Uruguayan may not feature in his plans going forward, as his options in Europe are now shutting out.

Arne Slot’s insistence on using Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz in a false-nine role for the better part of the second half of last season. The Dutch tactician does not count on the Uruguayan in his plans going forward, as they have been aggressively recruiting in the attack.

Liverpool are already closing in on Hugo Ekitike as their new option, and while in theory, Nunez could still stay as a cover for the late Diogo Jota, Liverpool would ideally like to sell. Their asking price of a reported £65 million has been the biggest stumbling block for suitors.

Some clubs were showing considerable interest, although the likes of Napoli have since backed away from the chase and signed Lorenzo Lucca. Once again, Liverpool’s asking price was the main issue as the player was open to joining them this summer, as Napoli were unwilling to pay beyond a certain mark.

Nunez is also open to the idea of joining a club in the MLS as well as South America, although the costs involved in signing the Liverpool star will make it prohibitive. Hence, it appears, Nunez could open his doors to a move to the Saudi Pro League, as some of the clubs there are interested.

Darwin Nunez to the Saudi Pro League?

Saudi Pro League clubs are ready to pay what it takes to sign Nunez, with Al-Hilal mentioned as a big suitor for the Uruguayan. The PIF-owned team have been chasing Victor Osimhen for many weeks now, but the Nigerian seems to be closing in on a move to Galatasaray.

Meanwhile, there are no concrete offers yet from the Saudi sides for Nunez, although one might assume they are with the capacity of meeting Liverpool’s £65 million asking price. Whether Nunez realistically feels ready to join the Middle Eastern league remains to be seen, although that may be an option as his European options are disappearing.
