Chelsea initiate move to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old English international Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Eberechi Eze is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 27-year-old Crystal Palace talisman has emerged as a target for the West London club.

The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup winners have opened talks to sign the Englishman from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window. However, Eze is also a target for Arsenal, and the player has a release clause worth £68 million in his contract with the South London outfit.

Eberechi Eze and a career-changing move

Eberechi Eze has gone from strength to strength since joining Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers in August 2020. The 27-year-old has overcome several fitness issues to become a talismanic figure during his spell with the South London club. The player’s exploits have also helped him become a regular for England.

The English international has turned out over 150 times thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with 40 goals and 28 assists. Meanwhile, Eze’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Arsenal and Chelsea are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Move across London on the horizon?

Arsenal’s interest in Eberechi Eze makes sense. The Gunners are combing the market for a creative attacker, with Mikel Arteta demanding more productivity from players in the final third amid the rising over-dependence on Bukayo Saka. So, the Crystal Palace playmaker is a viable target for Arsenal, with the Englishman keen on joining the North London club.

As for Chelsea, the Blues have a stacked offensive unit, with Jamie Gittens, Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, and Estevao Willian arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer. However, Enzo Maresca wants more firepower in the final third. So, Eze is an option worth considering, with Chelsea initiating the discussions to secure his services.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old English international has a release clause worth £68 million in his contract with the South London outfit. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can beat Arsenal after opening talks to secure Eze’s services.
