Harvey Elliott uninterested in joining West Ham United
Liverpool midfield sensation Harvey Elliott has no interest in joining Graham Potter’s West Ham United this summer.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Graham Potter’s West Ham United have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of Liverpool star Harvey Elliott, as the English youth international has given no indications that he is keen to move to the London stadium in the ongoing transfer window.
Elliott made quite a name for himself coming up the ranks at Fulham. His impressive performances at the youth level had put him on the radar of multiple top clubs, but Liverpool managed to secure his services back in 2019. The youngster got promoted to the Merseyside club’s first team in the summer of 2021, and he has only gone from strength to strength since.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is quite highly rated by people at Anfield, but he has not been able to get regular game time under Arne Slot. Last season, Elliott was involved in 28 matches, and he racked up just over 800 minutes of first-team action despite contributing towards eight goals.
While the Englishman did get enough minutes at Liverpool, he was certainly the star for the England Under-21s, who clinched the European Championship in the summer. His sensational performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs, and West Ham United are one of them.
West Ham are unlikely to sign Elliott
With the English youth international struggling for minutes at Anfield, West Ham see this as a great opportunity to prise him away. Following Mohammed Kudus’s move to rivals Tottenham, Graham Potter seeks more creativity, and he feels Elliott could help their cause.
Not only can he help cope with Kudus’s absence, the 22-year-old can feature as a central midfielder as well as out wide on the flanks when needed. While he is just the perfect fit for them, the Hammers are unlikely to win the race as Elliott has no intentions of joining them.
The Englishman would only leave the Merseyside club for a team that would allow him to compete at the highest level. With the former Fulham sensation not keen on joining West Ham, the East Londoners have been forced to look elsewhere.
It is certainly a massive blow for Potter’s team as their tactician and head of recruitment, Kyle Macaulay, was confident about convincing Liverpool to lower their price tag of £40 million if the player had shown some interest in joining them.
While West Ham have not given up just yet, they are unlikely to win the race for his signature. Liverpool have a strong negotiation point with two years left on his deal, and Elliott is not keen on joining them as they do not have European competition to offer.
