Galatasaray make approach for Ederson Moraes move

Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing 31-year-old Brazilian international Ederson Moraes from Manchester City this summer.

According to an update by reputed Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncoglu, Ederson Moraes is the subject of interest from Galatasaray. The Super Lig champions are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. So, the 31-year-old Manchester City mainstay has emerged as a target for Cimbom.

The 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig winners have intensified their efforts to sign the Osasco native by submitting an enquiry over a possible move. Meanwhile, the experienced goalkeeper is open to joining Galatasaray in the summer transfer window “if his salary expectations are met”.

Ederson Moraes and his legendary Manchester City spell

Ederson Moraes has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League since joining Manchester City from SL Benfica in a deal worth €40 million in July 2017. The 31-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last eight years, having been a mainstay between the sticks for the Citizens.

The Brazilian international has turned out over 350 times thus far for Manchester City while keeping 168 clean sheets and conceding 311 goals. Meanwhile, the veteran goalkeeper’s long-term future at Manchester City is uncertain, with Galatasaray among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Turkish adventure beckons?

Galatasaray’s interest in Ederson Moraes is understandable. The Turkish Super Lig champions are scouring the market for a goalkeeper this summer after ending their long association with former captain Fernando Muslera. So, the Manchester City goalkeeper has emerged as a viable target for Galatasaray, and he will be an upgrade on Okan Buruk’s current options.

However, Galatasaray will not be the only well-known club to pursue the Manchester City shot-stopper, with widespread reports linking him with Saudi Pro League outfits. Nevertheless, the 2024/25 Super Lig winners have intensified their efforts to sign the veteran goalkeeper by submitting an enquiry over a possible move.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Brazilian international is open to joining Galatasaray if his “salary expectations are met”. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Ederson is ready to call time on his stint with Manchester City, and a summer move to Turkiye may be on the cards.
