Arsenal approach Rodrygo Goes to discuss summer move

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in talks with Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo Goes as they look to reach an agreement on personal terms.

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Arsenal remain keen on acquiring the services of Rodrygo Goes, and they have reached out to his representatives as they look to understand the personal terms he would seek to complete a move to the North London club in the near future.

Rodrygo has only gone from strength to strength since joining Los Blancos in 2019 after coming up the ranks at Santos. While the South American attacker has been a key figure in their team over the last few seasons and he has helped them win some major titles, his future has become a big talking point in recent weeks.

Rodrygo Goes to leave Real Madrid?

Despite the arrival of Kylian Mbappe last summer, the 24-year-old still had a prominent role under Carlo Ancelotti. He was involved in a total of 51 games and racked up over 3,300 minutes. He ended up contributing towards 24 goals (14 goals, 10 assists).

However, things have not been that great for him since the arrival of Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian winger was involved in just three of their Club World Cup fixtures, and he was on the pitch for just 92 minutes. Rodrygo Goes does not seem to be a regular starter under Alonso going forward, as a result, his future is now up in the air.

The 24-year-old is considering parting ways with Los Blancos amidst interest from Premier League giants Arsenal. While the North London club are closing in on Noni Madueke’s signature, they are still keen on adding Rodrygo to their squad as they look to end their wait for their league title.

Arsenal are making moves to sign Rodrygo

Rodrygo Goes could prove to be a marquee signing for them. The Real Madrid star could be the world-class left-winger that Andrea Berta has been looking for since the start of the window. The Gunners recently took a step towards his potential signing.

They reached out to the player’s representatives to understand the player’s financial demands regarding a potential move to North London. Less than 48 hours after the end of the Club World Cup, the Gunners decided to make a move to see if the 24-year-old is interested in embarking on a fresh challenge away from Real Madrid.

Not only did they make checks on his salary demands, but they were also looking to understand the conditions of any potential move, as they wanted to understand if they could make it happen in the coming days. The Spanish giants are in a very comfortable position as he still has three years left on his deal and is protected by a massive £861 million release clause.

But if the Rodrygo Goes pushes for a move, Los Blancos won’t stand in his way as long as their demands are met. Meanwhile, Arsenal will surely have to make the highest-paid player in their squad if they do decide to bring him to North London. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can afford him at this stage, given they have a lot of other transfer business to take care of.
