Liverpool turn down Bayern Munich offer for Luis Diaz

Arne Slot’s Liverpool have turned down an offer worth €67.5 million from Bayern Munich for their attacking mainstay, Luis Diaz.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich’s €67.5 million offer for Luis Diaz has been knocked back by Liverpool, who are in no mood to negotiate the Colombian international’s departure. While the player remains open to a potential exit, the Reds consider him an integral part of their project moving ahead.

Diaz made a name for himself at FC Porto, and on the back of his impressive rise, Jurgen Klopp signed him at the start of 2022. He was a key figure in their team under Klopp, and that was the case under Arne Slot last season as well.

The 28-year-old Colombian winger was involved in a total of 50 matches across competitions, and he ended up contributing towards 25 goals. While there are still two years left on his deal, Diaz feels he is underpaid at Liverpool and has been considering parting ways with them.

The Merseyside club are ready to hand him a new deal, but renewal talks haven’t gone according to plan so far. With his future uncertain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have emerged as potential destinations. While the Catalan giants do not have the best of finances, the German giants can certainly prise him away.

Bayern have failed with their attempt to sign Diaz

Following a serious injury to Jamal Musiala, Bayern are looking to add more firepower to their attack. Having missed out on some of their top targets, they are now pushing for Diaz’s signature.

The German club have already held talks with the player’s camp and they reportedly have an agreement in place on personal terms. As a result, they went ahead and tabled an offer for the 28-year-old.

Despite putting forward a deal worth €67.5 million this week, they haven’t been able to convince Liverpool to negotiate Diaz’s departure. The Reds have turned down the proposal, and their stance remains the same that the former FC Porto star is not for sale. They had already closed the door for approaches back in June.

Meanwhile, the player still remains open to a departure. However, things could only take a turn if he informs the Merseyside club about his desire to leave Anfield this summer.
