West Ham United in transfer tussle to sign Bilal El Khannouss, make approach
Bila El Khannouss is a target for West Ham United and two other clubs, with the Londoners making enquiries to understand the details for the playmaker.
According to L’Equipe, West Ham United are looking at Bilal El Khannouss and his situation at relegated Premier League club Leicester City ahead of a potential move. The Hammers are eager to bring in a player with an abundance of creativity, but they may face tense competition for the Foxes star as two other clubs are keen.
Bilal El Khannouss impressed a few onlookers with some of his performances last season. The Belgian-born Moroccan international only joined Leicester City from Genk in a reported £21 million move, which yielded three goals and five assists from 33 Premier League games.
It may not resemble a great output from a player so highly rated, but there are a host of top teams that were interested in signing him as soon as Leicester City’s relegation was confirmed. El Khannouss represents a player who has a massive upside for the future and plenty of time to develop into a top star.
Teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United were all keen on Bilal El Khannouss at some stage, but none are likely to make a move until the latter stages of the window. Those big teams might view the 21-year-old playmaker as an addition rather than a necessity for their squads.
That does leave many other sides languishing in mid-table to view him as a key target of sorts. Wolves were keen earlier, but at the moment there is interest from AS Monaco and newly promoted Sunderland. The two teams will look to get ahead, with the report naming the latter as someone who could have a big chance. However, to rival them, West Ham United have joined the race and enquired about El Khannouss.
West Ham are keen on Bilal El Khannouss
West Ham are looking for options in the market that improve Graham Potter’s side. One of the key areas is the creative side, as Mohammoed Kudus’s departure to Tottenham and the uncertainty surrounding Lucas Paqueta do make them look for a playmaker profile. There are already some links to Tyler Dibling, and now El Khannouss.
As the Hammers have already enquired to understand certain details of a potential transfer, it might be a case of talks commencing soon. West Ham will be aware of Leicester City’s demands for the 21-year-old playmaker, as they will want more than the £21 million they paid last summer, although, due to their relegation, the Foxes might lose some power in negotiations.
