Milan Regrouping Following Some Transfer Market Blows
Milan tried to accelerate to plug one of their holes, but they got pipped at the post for left-back Archie Brown. They had agreed to his valuation with Gent, about €8/9M, but so did Fenerbahce. In the end, their competitors were more persuasive. He’ll make €3.5M for the next three years, with an option, Mediaset reports.
The Rossoneri had sent a private jet to Belgium while they were trying to finalize the agreement. However, the defender embarked the Turkish side’s one after an overnight phone call with one of their directors, as he told Fabrizio Romano (via SOSFanta).
Milan plot to make one addition on each defensive wing. They covet Guela Doué and have tabled multiple bids for him. However, Strasbourg want €28M, Calciomercato informs. They are pivoting toward Almeria’s Marc Pubill, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays. He’s wanted by Wolverhampton too.
As for Brown, they had offered €1.4M per year. He told them he was keen on joining, but Fenerbahce convinced him with a significantly higher salary. Like a few other sides, they have been proposed Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez.
The Rossoneri are being offered a few specialists, for instance Nice’s Melvin Bard, Atletico Madrid’s Javi Galan, and Fiorentina’s Fabiano Parisi, Foot Mercato reports.
Our Take on the Milan Fullbacks
The Brown saga wasn’t a great look, also considering the caliber of the player, but it looks like he wasn’t really that close. If they have the resources, they should go for a young two-fer and sort out both flanks. If not, they should prioritize the left one. Without a European competition, they can patch up the other one, where they still haven’t offloaded Emerson Royal, with Alexis Saelemaekers and Alex Jimenez.
