Luis Diaz in talks to seal Liverpool exit amid Barcelona, Bayern Munich links
Barcelona and Bayern Munich have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Liverpool attacking mainstay Luis Diaz.
According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Luis Diaz seems to be closing in on a move away from Liverpool amidst interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich. While the Reds are reluctant to sell, the Colombian international has been in talks with interested clubs, and things could take a turn in the near future.
Diaz has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Merseyside club at the start of 2022 from FC Porto. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in the team, but the 28-year-old has also been one of their standout performers in recent seasons.
Luis Diaz’s uncertain future
He was ever present in Arne Slot’s team last season, as he contributed towards 25 goals in his 50 outings. He started the majority of their league games as they went on to lift the Premier League title. While he still has two years left on his deal at the club, his future has become a big talking point.
The Colombian international feels he is underpaid at the Merseyside club. While Liverpool are happy with his outing and are ready to offer him a new deal, he has shown no interest in signing a new long-term deal.
Despite being quite happy with his role at Anfield, he has been involved in talks with other interested clubs. Liverpool are not keen on offloading him, but they would let him go for a fee of around £70 million if he makes his desire known.
Pete O’Rourke’s take on Luis Diaz’s future
While speaking about the Colombian winger’s future, he said: “This has got the potential to be the transfer saga of the summer,”
“Diaz is still flirting with these interested clubs and has refused to commit his long-term future to Liverpool.
“He’s happy at Liverpool and Liverpool are happy with him, but he has also admitted that he is in negotiations with other clubs as well.
“Bayern Munich made an offer to Liverpool which was rebuffed earlier this month with Liverpool saying they have no intentions of letting Diaz go.
“Bayern are still very much interested in signing the Colombian.
“They need to make a marquee signing after they missed out on Nico Williams and Florian Wirtz, and the injury to Jamal Musiala has increased their need to sign an attacker.
“The talk is that personal terms won’t be a problem, it’s just about agreeing a fee with Liverpool.”
European giants chasing Diaz’s signature
Barcelona and Bayern Munich have emerged as potential destinations for the Liverpool star. The German giants are looking for more firepower on the flanks following a serious injury to Jamal Musiala. Having missed out on other targets, they are looking to push hard for Diaz’s signature.
They already have the green light from the player, but negotiations with Liverpool haven’t been easy. They have already had an offer rejected, but haven’t given up just yet. Meanwhile, Barcelona is seen as a dream destination for Diaz.
He would love to make the switch to the Catalan giants, who are looking to add more quality on the left flank. The Colombian winger is a top target for them, but the financial side of the deal could prove very difficult for them.
While Diaz is in talks with interested clubs, he has yet to inform Liverpool about his desire to potentially leave the club. As a result, no concrete developments have taken place so far. However, there is a possibility of him pushing for a move away in the coming weeks.
