Leeds United in transfer tussle to sign Yusuf Yazici

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Turkish international Yusuf Yazici from Olympiacos in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by reputed French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Yusuf Yazici is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old Olympiacos attacking midfielder has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.

Yusuf Yazici and a frustrating season

Yusuf Yazici has endured a nightmare 12 months after moving to Greece last summer. A native of Trabzon, the Turk spent his formative years in his home city and graduated from the youth division at Trabzonspor. He rose in prominence during a spell with LOSC Lille but could not find a stable footing throughout his half-decade stay at Stade Pierre Mauroy.

The 28-year-old left LOSC Lille as a free agent last summer before completing a Bosman move to Olympiacos. However, Yazici managed only one appearance for the Greek giants in the 2024/25 season after suffering a long-term knee injury in November.

Despite enduring an injury-struck campaign, Yazici’s stock in the market remains high, although his stint with Olympiacos may end in the summer transfer window. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Leeds United’s interest in Yusuf Yazici is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a versatile attacker this summer as they aim to raise the floor and ceiling of the first-team squad. So, several candidates, including Evann Guessand, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Yazici also a viable target.

While the 28-year-old Turk is coming back from a long-term knee injury, he can become a long-term asset for Leeds United if he rediscovers his best touch in the 2025/26 season. However, Leeds United will face stiff competition from an unnamed French club for Yazici’s signature in the summer transfer window.

Nevertheless, the lure of playing in the Premier League may attract Yazici, and Leeds United will aim to win the battle for his signature. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 45-cap Turkish international.
