Tottenham face frustration in Yoane Wissa chase

Tottenham Hotspur are now facing frustration in their efforts to sign the Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

Brentford are unwilling to sanction the departure of multiple key players this summer, and they could block the Congo international’s exit once Bryan Mbeumo has finalised his move to Manchester United.

According to Football Insider, the development has come as a major blow for Tottenham, who were looking to sign the 28-year-old. They need to bring in a reliable goalscorer, and Wissa would have been a very useful acquisition. He scored 20 goals last season, and he could share the goalscoring burden with Dominic Solanke.

The player is at the peak of his career, and joining Tottenham could have been ideal for him. He would have had the opportunity to play in the Champions League and work with Thomas Frank once again.

Tottenham wanted to sign Mbeumo earlier this summer, but the player is thought to be keen on a move to Manchester United instead. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can bring in the right additions before the window closes.

They finished in the bottom half of the league table last season, and they need to improve if they want to do well next season. Despite winning the Europa League, they had a disappointing season overall. Players like Wissa could help them bounce back strongly.

Can Wissa help facilitate a move?

It will be interesting to see if the attacker decides to push for an exit this summer. The opportunity to join a big club can be quite tempting, and the 28-year-old might feel that this could be his final opportunity to join a big club. Tottenham will certainly hope that the player decides to force an exit. It could give them an upper hand during negotiations.

Wissa has been a reliable performer in the Premier League, and he should be able to make an instant impact at Tottenham. He knows Thomas Frank well, and he will be able to adapt to his style of play quickly. Also, the Spurs manager could bring out the best in him.
