Nottingham Forest front-runners to sign Johan Bakayoko

Nottingham Forest will reportedly look to sign 22-year-old Belgian international Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Johan Bakayoko is the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest. The Tricky Trees are the most advanced of all the suitors to sign the PSV Eindhoven winger in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Eredivisie champions want €25 million to part ways with the Belgian winger, with Liverpool and West Ham United also keen on signing him.

Johan Bakayoko has seen his stock skyrocket since breaking into the first-team squad at PSV Eindhoven. A Overijse native spent most of his formative years in Belgium but graduated from the youth division at PSV Eindhoven after joining the Dutch giants in July 2019.

The Belgian international has come leaps and bounds in last few seasons, although he blew hot and cold in the 2024/25 campaign. Bakayoko contributed to only 15 goals in 47 outings across all competitions by finding the back of the net 12 times and providing three assists. However, the young winger has become a hot property in the market, with several well-known clubs, including Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham United.

The 22-year-old has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense due to Diogo Jota’s tragic passing. In addition, Luis Diaz faces an uncertain future at Anfield amid his links with Bayern Munich and Barcelona. So, Liverpool can do with a new wide attacker, with Bakayoko emerging as a viable target.

Meanwhile, West Ham United’s interest in Johan Bakayoko is understandable. The Hammers have parted ways with Mohammed Kudus, who has joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer. So, West Ham must sign a versatile attacker in the coming weeks, with the PSV Eindhoven winger being an option worth considering.

As for Nottingham Forest, Anthony Elanga has joined Newcastle United this month.
