Liverpool rival Arsenal in Rodrygo Goes chase, express interest

Liverpool are ready to rival Arsenal in the chase of 24-year-old disgruntled Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, who is yet to decide his future.

According to AS, Rodrygo Goes has another Premier League suitor in the form of Liverpool. Arne Slot’s side could target the 24-year-old disgruntled Real Madrid star as a potential replacement for Luis Diaz, but face top-level competition from the likes of Arsenal in the Brazilian’s chase.

Rodrygo Goes will decide on his future soon, with rumours out of Spain are already pointing towards a potential exit from Real Madrid. The speculation surrounding the Brazilian increased as Xabi Alonso did not prefer to start him after the first group game of the Club World Cup.

There are many factors in play with Rodrygo, as questions like whether the attacker fits into Alonso’s system are one of those. Many reports have steadily stated Rodrygo’s preference to play on the left, which currently may not be possible at Real Madrid, given the quality they have on that side.

A host of clubs are interested should Rodrygo and Real Madrid part ways this summer, as that might be the case after all. Arsenal were seen as the favourites earlier, but so far the Gunners have not made any sort of move towards the 24-year-old disgruntled Real Madrid star, although some stories have stated that they might have held informal talks with the player’s camp.

The Gunners ponder resuming their chase of Rodrygo, with a recent report claiming that Real Madrid will demand €100 million at the very least for the 24-year-old. The Gunners are in the process of finalising a move for striker Viktor Gyokeres, while they could chase Eberechi Eze there after, as a move for Rodrygo is very much expected to shape in the latter stages of the window.

Liverpool are ready to chase Rodrygo Goes

Liverpool are also seen as a big suitor for Rodrygo alongside Arsenal, although there are some steps involved in the way before they can cement their interest. The future of Luis Diaz can play a major role in proceedings, as the Bayern Munich-linked Colombian winger’s time at Anfield could come to a close. Hence, any chase of Rodrygo will depend on whether Liverpool can offload Diaz, which at the moment seems difficult.

Diaz plays a key role for Liverpool off the left, and should he leave and Rodrygo arrive, the Brazilian will play on his preferred side of the pitch. The same can be said about Arsenal, with the Gunners likely to bring in to compete with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli on the left-hand side. However, any move to the Premier League will come after the Brazilian decides his future, as so far he might prefer to stay at Real Madrid.
