John Victor has an offer from Manchester United

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have reportedly submitted an offer for the services of Botafogo shot-stopper John Victor.

According to a report from Goal Brasil, Manchester United are looking to add more quality to their goalkeeping department, and they have their eyes set on John Victor, who put in some impressive performances at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as Botafogo made it to the knockout stages.

John Victor came up the ranks at Santos and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. On the back of an impressive short loan spell at Real Valladolid, he joined Botafogo at the start of 2024. He has featured in a total of 80 matches for them while keeping 33 clean sheets.

The 29-year-old was one of their standout performers at the Club World Cup as they managed to make it out of a group that had both PSG and Atletico Madrid. The Brazilian giants stunned Luis Enrique’s team with a 1-0 win, and Victor certainly played a big part in it.

Manchester United are closing in on John Victor’s signature

John’s performances have not gone unnoticed, and Manchester United are one of the clubs that are interested in acquiring his services. Ruben Amorim wants more competition in goal and feels the Brazilian shot-stopper could help their cause.

While the experienced shot-stopper is unlikely to be the preferred choice in goal, he can certainly push Andre Onana for a place in the team. The Red Devils have started making moves to sign him and have already submitted an offer to Botafogo.

The Brazilian club handed him a new deal at the start of the year, which runs until the end of 2028. Despite that, they are aware that keeping hold of John Victor won’t be easy. As a result, they have started preparing for his potential departure.

Manchester United are willing to trigger his release clause in order to ensure they can lure him to Old Trafford before the start of next season. They are set to fork out $8 million to get a deal over the line. Botafogo have already identified Matheus Mendes as an ideal replacement, which suggests that John Victor to Manchester United could go through in the coming days.
