Chelsea interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma

Chelsea are alert to Gianluigi Donnarumma’s situation at PSG as he enters the final year of his deal, and the Blues are still on the lookout for a new keeper.

According to L’Equipe, Gianluigi Donnarumma is a player of interest to Chelsea, as the club are keeping tabs on his situation. The Italian stopper will enter the final year of his deal at PSG, which has alerted many clubs apart from the Blues, with the London outfit still in the market for a new keeper.

Chelsea are set to face PSG in the CWC Final on Sunday, as both teams will hope to come out of the contest as winners. The Blues will accelerate their transfer activity once the competition ends, but they have managed to sign two attackers during their stay in the USA.

One of the priorities for Enzo Maresca’s side is to bring in a new stopper after they failed to sign Mike Maignan earlier in the summer. They are still interested in the AC Milan stopper, but could switch their attention towards another potential market opportunity.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the latest name on their list, with the Italian star set to enter the final year of his deal at PSG. There’s no indication about an imminent departure, although a decision is set to be made on his future, with Chelsea very much alert alongside other teams for the 26-year-old UCL winner.

Chelsea are planning on the exits of their goalkeepers, including Robert Sanchez, while Djorde Petrovic has agreed to join Bournemouth in a permanent deal. Meanwhile, Donnarumma has other suitors, with Manchester City one of those previously interested, and could still view a possible route to signing him if there are problems with a potential PSG renewal.

PSG unlikely to sell Gianluigi Donnarumma

Donnarumma had leaned towards staying at PSG earlier when Manchester United were interested. PSG does not need to even consider selling the striker who played a big part in their treble-winning campaign, and especially in the Champions League knockout games, where he was one of the standout performers.

As things stand, PSG could offer to extend his deal at the club, and the player might prefer to continue with Luis Enrique’s side, who will angle to retain the Champions League next season. As for Chelsea, they might stay on course with the 26-year-old UCL winner, but may move on to other targets once the Italian’s choices become clearer.
