Barcelona set to approach Chelsea for Nicolas Jackson loan deal
La Liga champions Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Senegalese international Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea on a loan deal in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Nicolas Jackson is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The 2024/25 La Liga winners are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Chelsea striker has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana.
The Catalan giants are ready to approach Chelsea to discuss a loan deal for the Banjul native. However, the West London outfit would prefer to cash in on Jackson, having placed a price tag of €50 million on him. Meanwhile, the former Villarreal striker is also a target for Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Nicolas Jackson and his Chelsea spell so far
Nicolas Jackson has made considerable progress since joining Chelsea from Villarreal in July 2023. The 24-year-old has made a mark with his work rate and readiness to work his socks off for the team’s cause. However, his wastefulness in front of the goal has often frustrated the Chelsea fans.
The Senegalese international has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for Chelsea while chipping in with 30 goals and 12 assists. However, Jackson’s stock at the West London club has dropped after they signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. So, a summer exit may be on the cards, with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Barcelona among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
A man in demand
Aston Villa’s interest in Nicolas Jackson makes sense. The Villans are scouring the market for a versatile attacker after failing to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal. So, the Chelsea forward is a viable target due to his ability to reprise multiple roles in the final third. Meanwhile, Newcastle United will aim to sign a striker this summer after parting ways with Callum Wilson as a free agent.
As for Barcelona, the reigning La Liga champions are eager to bolster their attacking department by signing a versatile attacker after allowing Ansu Fati to join AS Monaco on loan this summer. So, Jackson is a viable target for the Blaugrana, with the Catalan outfit keen on signing him on loan from Chelsea. The Blues prefer a permanent sale, having slapped a price tag of €50 million on him.
Barcelona will soon approach Chelsea to discuss a loan deal for the €50 million-rated Jackson. However, the Catalan club’s eagerness to secure a temporary move may work in favour of Aston Villa and Newcastle United if they are ready to launch a bid to sign the 24-year-old Senegalese international permanently.
