Barcelona making progress in talks to sign Marcus Rashford
Barcelona will reportedly look to sign 27-year-old English international Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed Spanish journalist Jorge C Picon, Marcus Rashford is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are eager to bolster their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile attacker. So, the 27-year-old Manchester United outcast has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana.
Arturo Canales, “a trusted agent of the club”, is working on handling the talks to seal the deal for the Englishman. Rashford is a much more financially viable target for Barcelona, compared to Luis Diaz, and “the player views the move favourably”. Meanwhile, a report by AS via Sport Witness has suggested that Manchester United will demand €48 million to part ways with the academy graduate.
Marcus Rashford and his situation
Marcus Rashford has reached a point in his career where he is desperate for a stable footing despite a fruitful loan spell with Aston Villa. The 27-year-old amassed four goals and six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for the West Midlands outfit. However, a permanent move to Villa Park has not seen the light of day.
Meanwhile, the English international has no future at Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim eager to fast-track the player’s departure from Old Trafford. However, Rashford has no shortage of clubs pursuing his signature, with Barcelona among the prospective suitors vying for his services in the summer transfer window.
Will Rashford achieve his dream move?
Barcelona’s interest in Marcus Rashford makes sense. The defending La Liga champions are scouring the market for a versatile attacker after sanctioning Ansu Fati’s loan move to AS Monaco. In addition, Ferran Torres faces an uncertain future at the Catalan club, even though he has committed his future to the Blaugrana.
So, Rashford has emerged as a viable target, with the Englishman’s ability to play across the offensive unit making him an attractive option for Barcelona. The Catalan giants are also interested in signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool. However, with the Reds not interested in cashing in on the Colombian international, the Catalan giants have looked elsewhere. Meanwhile, the talks to land Rashford have progressed well.
Arturo Canales, a third-party agent who has Barcelona’s trust, is working on the deal to take Rashford to Barcelona. Meanwhile, Manchester United will demand around €48 million to part ways with the 27-year-old English international. So, it will be interesting to see if Rashford’s long association with Manchester United ends with a move to Barcelona.
