Manchester United, Newcastle United learn Giorgio Scalvini price

Serie A club Atalanta will demand over £50 million to sell 21-year-old Italian international Giorgio Scalvini amid his links with Manchester United and Newcastle United.

According to a report by i News, Manchester United and Newcastle United are keen on signing Giorgio Scalvini in the summer transfer window. The two Premier League clubs are eager to bolster their defensive units by signing a centre-back. So, the 21-year-old Atalanta defender has been a target for Manchester United and Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, the Chiari native will not come cheap, with Atalanta demanding over £50 million to “even begin a conversation” over a summer deal. However, it is unclear if Manchester United and Newcastle United are ready to meet the Serie A club’s valuation to secure Scalvini’s services in the summer transfer window.

Giorgio Scalvini and his career so far

Giorgio Scalvini has been one of the most promising defenders in Serie A since breaking into the first-team squad at Atalanta. However, the 21-year-old has been on the sidelines for several months after an untimely knee injury blighted his 2024/25 season. So, he managed only 371 minutes of game time across eight appearances in all competitions last term.

However, Scalvini’s stock in the market remains high, with several high-profile clubs keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. Newcastle United and Manchester United are among the prospective suitors vying for the Italian centre-back’s signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League adventure beckons?

Newcastle United’s interest in Giorgio Scalvini is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a centre-back this summer amid the advancing years of Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, and Jamaal Lascelles. In addition, Sven Botman struggled with fitness issues in the 2024/25 season. So, Scalvini has emerged as the top target for Newcastle United.

As for Manchester United, it is unclear why the Red Devils want to sign Scalvini, considering Ruben Amorim has nearly half a dozen central defensive options in his squad. Nevertheless, the Atalanta prospect is a target for Manchester United, with the Serie A giants naming their price to part ways with the 21-year-old centre-back.

La Dea will demand over £50 million to “even begin a conversation” with the prospective suitors. However, it is unclear if Manchester United and Newcastle United are ready to pay over £50 million to secure Scalvini’s services in the summer transfer window.
