Liverpool intensify efforts to sign Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool have stepped up their efforts as they look to sign Chelsea and Manchester United attacking target Hugo Ekitike.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are looking to further bolster their attack this summer, and they have their eyes set on Hugo Ekitike. The Reds have decided to ramp up their efforts to sign the French striker as they look to beat Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature.

While things didn’t work out for Ekitike at PSG, he has revived himself since joining Eintracht Frankfurt at the start of 2024. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent last summer.

The 23-year-old striker was on fire for the German club last season. He was involved in a total of 48 matches across competitions and ended up contributing towards 34 goals (22 goals, 12 assists). His performances haven’t gone unnoticed as he now finds himself on the wishlist of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United.

Premier League giants are going after Ekitike’s signature

The Blues might have added Liam Delap and Joao Pedro to their squad, but they are still on the lookout for more firepower in the final third and consider Ekitike an ideal fit for Enzo Maresca’s system as well as their project.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in the market for a new number nine as Ruben Amorim isn’t pleased with the current options at his disposal. He wants someone who can bring an end to their goal-scoring problems, and the French striker could certainly help their cause.

Liverpool are looking to beat the competition

While both Chelsea and United are keen on his signature, Liverpool are looking to steal a march on them by making an early move to sign the 23-year-old. Following the void left by the loss of Diogo Jota and the uncertain future of Darwin Nunez, the Reds are in need of a top-quality number nine to lead Arne Slot’s team.

They consider Ekitike an ideal fit for their team and are willing to go all out for his signature. The Merseyside club are fully confident that they can lure him to the club with their sporting project, as it will allow him to compete for all major titles.

But Frankfurt’s asking price could cause problems. With four years still left on his deal, the German club value him at €100 million. Since there is a lot of interest in his signature, they might hold out on their demands, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool are willing to pay that big a fee for the 23-year-old.
