Fulham the furthest club in race to sign Mehdi Taremi
Fulham will reportedly look to sign 32-year-old Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi from Serie A club Inter Milan in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Italian outlet Inter News, Mehdi Taremi is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 32-year-old Inter Milan centre-forward has emerged as a target for the West London outfit.
The Cottagers are “keenly interested in the player, so much so that they are currently the club furthest along in the race to secure his services”. Fulham and Inter Milan have already begun the negotiations to seal the deal for Taremi in the summer transfer window, with talks between the two clubs advancing.
Mehdi Taremi and his career so far
Mehdi Taremi has been one of the most underrated strikers in the world in the last half a decade. A native of Bushehr, the veteran striker spent his formative years in Iran and remained in Asia until July 2019. The 32-year-old joined FC Porto from Rio Ave in August 2020, and his stock skyrocketed after that switch.
The Iranian international has been a backup player during his spell with Inter Milan, and his productivity has plummeted. Taremi has managed only three goals and nine assists in 43 outings across all competitions. However, his stock in the market is high, with Fulham among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Mehdi Taremi is understandable despite his advancing age. The Cottagers are combing the market for a striker this summer after parting ways with Carlos Vinicius. While Marco Silva still has Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz in his squad, the Fulham manager wants more firepower in the final third.
So, the Asian striker, who has 53 goals for Iran, has emerged as a viable target for Fulham. While the Cottagers also have other strikers, including Tolu Arokodare, on their wishlist, the talks to sign the Inter Milan striker have quickly progressed.
The Serie A giants are ready to part ways with the 32-year-old Iranian striker, with Fulham advancing the talks to secure his services. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Taremi amid the West London club’s negotiations to secure his services.
