Chelsea have discussed Ethan Nwaneri deal with Arsenal
Chelsea will reportedly look to sign 18-year-old English youth international Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Fabrizio Romano on Give Me Sport, Ethan Nwaneri is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues have constantly scoured the market for highly-rated prospects during the BlueCo group’s tenure. So, the 18-year-old Arsenal wonderkid has emerged as a target for the West London club over a move in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal and Chelsea have recently met to finalise the agreement over a deal for Noni Madueke. However, the Blues took the opportunity to ask their fellow London club about the possibility of signing Nwaneri in the summer transfer window. However, the Gunners do not want to part ways with the Englishman amid their desire to tie the youngster to a new contract.
Ethan Nwaneri and his situation
Ethan Nwaneri has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since breaking into the first-team squad at Arsenal. A native of London, the 18-year-old has been with the North London club since 2015, spending his youth career with the Gunners before making his senior bow in August 2022, becoming the youngest player to appear in the Premier League.
While the English youth international has yet to become a regular for Arsenal, he has amassed nine goals and two assists in only 1,392 minutes of game time across 39 appearances thus far. Meanwhile, Nwaneri’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea. The youngster’s contract situation has alerted his suitors, as he has entered the final 12 months of his contract.
Move across London on the horizon?
Chelsea’s interest in Ethan Nwaneri is understandable. The Blues have constantly combed the market for highly-rated prospects since the BlueCo group took over from Roman Abramovich. So, several prodigies have arrived at Stamford Bridge, with Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez on the cusp of moving to Chelsea this summer.
As for Nwaneri, the 18-year-old Englishman can be a long-term offensive solution for Chelsea, considering his experience in the Premier League. The West London giants have already approached Arsenal to discuss a possible summer move for the teenage sensation.
However, Arsenal will not entertain any bids to part ways with the English youth international, and they have rebuffed Chelsea’s approach. Meanwhile, the North London outfit will attempt to tie Nwaneri to a new contract, and an agreement may be close.
