Barcelona prioritising Marcus Rashford move, Luis Diaz trail cools
Barcelona will reportedly prioritise signing 27-year-old English international Marcus Rashford from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed German journalist Fabrizio Romano, Marcus Rashford is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile wide attacker. So, the 27-year-old Manchester United misfit has emerged as a target for the Blaugrana.
The Catalan giants have been keen on signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool in the summer transfer window. However, the Reds have rebuffed Barcelona’s approach, compelling the Blaugrana to turn towards Rashford, identifying the Englishman as the priority summer target.
Marcus Rashford and his situation
Marcus Rashford has reached a crossroads in his career despite a successful loan spell with Aston Villa in the second half of the 2024/25 season. The 27-year-old amassed four goals and six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for the West Midlands outfit. However, a permanent move to Villa Park did not see the light of day.
The English international has no future at Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim not interested in re-integrating him into the first-team squad at Old Trafford. However, Rashford has no shortage of clubs pursuing his signature, with Barcelona among the prospective suitors vying for his services in the summer transfer window.
La Liga adventure beckons?
Barcelona’s interest in Marcus Rashford is understandable. The defending La Liga champions have sanctioned Ansu Fati’s departure, with the academy graduate completing a loan move to AS Monaco. In addition, Ferran Torres faces an uncertain future at the Catalan club, although he remains committed to the Blaugrana.
So, Rashford has emerged as a viable target, with his ability to play across the offensive unit making him an appealing option for Barcelona. The Blaugrana previously prioritised signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool. However, with the Premier League champions not interested in cashing in on the Colombian international, the Catalan giants have looked elsewhere.
Rashford has thus become the latest priority target for Barcelona, with the Catalan outfit ready to go all in to sign the 27-year-old Englishman from Manchester United in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Rashford joins Barcelona in the coming weeks.
