Chelsea and Newcastle United learn asking price for Karim Adeyemi
Chelsea and Newcastle United will have to fork out close to €65-70 million to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi.
According to a report from BILD, Chelsea and Newcastle United are two Premier League clubs that are keen on signing Karim Adeyemi. His impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund have caught their attention, and they are considering making a move. The German club have no intentions of selling him this summer and will only listen to offers between €65-€70 million.
After making a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg, Adeyemi joined the German giants in the summer of 2022. He has only gone from strength to strength over the last three seasons and has established himself as an integral part of their first team.
Last season, the 23-year-old right-winger played all across the front line. He was involved in a total of 41 matches across competitions (including the Club World Cup), and he ended up contributing towards 23 goals (12 goals, 11 assists).
His impressive performances, along with his versatility, have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. Chelsea and Newcastle are two clubs that have taken note of his work and are keen on adding him to their squad.
Will Premier League clubs meet Dortmund’s demands?
The Premier League clubs certainly won’t find it easy to strike a deal for his services. Adeyemi’s contract runs until the summer of 2027, and Dortmund are reluctant to sell him unless their demands are met.
They have set a massive asking price of €65-70 million for the young winger, which is certainly on the higher side. Dortmund’s management, which is led by Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl, will only sit on the negotiation table if an offer of at least €65 million arrives.
Having sold Jamie Gittens to Chelsea for €65 million, they believe Adeyemi should also cost something similar, if not more. The Blues have already made significant additions to their attack, and having signed Gittens to strengthen their flanks, it will be interesting to see if they still end up making a move for the German winger.
While Newcastle do have a lot of options on the flanks, Eddie Howe is looking for an X-factor player who can unsettle the opposition defence. They are in talks to sign Marcus Rashford, but Adeyemi could actually be a much better fit for their project. However, the cost of the operation certainly seems to be very high.
