Leeds United in transfer tussle to sign Josh Sargent

Leeds United will reportedly compete with Burnley and VfL Wolfsburg to sign 25-year-old USMNT international Josh Sargent from EFL Championship club Norwich City.

According to a report by Pink Un, Josh Sargent is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Norwich City centre-forward has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League outfit.

Meanwhile, the EFL Championship club will demand around £16 million to part ways with the American attacker in the summer transfer window. However, Leeds United will face stiff competition from VfL Wolfsburg and fellow newly promoted Premier League club Burnley for his signature.

Josh Sargent has been one of the most impressive strikers in the EFL Championship since the Canaries suffered relegation from the Premier League in the 2021/22 season. The 25-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last three years, even though he has not been as consistent as he would have liked.

The USMNT international has 70 goals in his club football career, having represented Werder Bremen and Norwich City in different competitions. Meanwhile, Sargent’s exploits for Norwich City have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Leeds United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Leeds United’s interest in Josh Sargent is understandable. While Joel Piroe was instrumental in the EFL Championship title triumph in the 2024/25 season, Daniel Farke wants more firepower in the final third. So, the German tactician is ready to return to his former club to sign a striker, with Sargent emerging as a viable target.

However, several other strikers are also on Leeds United’s radar, even though Sargent is an option worth considering.
