Crystal Palace table bid to sign Borna Sosa

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace are interested in signing Ajax wing-back Borna Sosa, have tabled an offer for the Croatian defender.

Crystal Palace are looking to add more depth to the left side of their defence, and they are interested in the services of Borna Sosa. According to a report from The Athletic, the Eagles have submitted an offer for the Croatian international and are in talks with his representatives regarding a potential transfer ahead of next season.

Sosa made a name for himself while playing for VfB Stuttgart before joining Ajax in the summer of 2023. Things didn’t really go according to plan for him as he was involved in only 25 matches and racked up just over 1,500 minutes of first-team action.

Ajax ended up sending him out on loan to Torino for last season. While he was a regular feature in their XI in the first half, the 27-year-old often found himself on the bench in the second half following a rift with the manager. He finished with 20 appearances for the Italian club.

While he is back at Ajax and still has three years left on his deal, the Croatian international doesn’t seem to have a future at the club. He is not an important part of their plans, and they would be more than willing to sell him for the right price.

Crystal Palace have made moves to sign Sosa

Crystal Palace have emerged as a potential destination for Sosa, who can feature as a wing-back, a full-back, as well as in central defence. Glasner seeks more depth and competition on the left flank for Tyrick Mitchell and feels the Ajax defender could help their cause.

While Mitchell is still expected to continue at the preferred choice, Sosa could challenge him for a place in the XI and provide cover for him. The London club have already submitted an offer to Ajax as they look to sign the 27-year-old ahead of next season.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have also put forward a proposal to Sosa. Talks between the two parties are expected to continue as Palace explore whether a deal can be reached in the coming weeks. The Croatian international is on the wishlist of other top clubs, which certainly won’t make it easy for the Premier League outfit.
