Crystal Palace in transfer tussle to sign Jens Cajuste

Crystal Palace will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Swedish international Jens Cajuste from Serie A club Napoli in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Jens Cajuste is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are eager to bolster their midfield unit by signing a dynamic midfielder in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Napoli outcast has emerged as a target for the South London club.

The Swede spent the 2024/25 season on loan from Napoli in the Premier League with Ipswich Town. However, the Tractor Boys have not completed a permanent move in the summer transfer window after suffering relegation to the EFL Championship. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace will face stiff competition from Burnley, Besiktas, and Sevilla for his signature.

Jens Cajuste and his career at a crossroads

Jens Cajuste is at a crucial juncture in his career after his loan spell with Ipswich Town did not yield the desired results. While the 25-year-old was impressive in the middle of the park in his 33 appearances in all competitions, he was not impactful enough to save the Tractor Boys from avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

So, the Swedish international has returned to Napoli, with the Serie A giants ready to cash in on him in the summer transfer window. A swift return to the Premier League may be on the cards, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature this summer.

London calling?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Jens Cajuste makes sense. The Eagles are combing the market for a versatile midfielder this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Adam Wharton’s long-term future. While the English international will likely remain at Selhurst Park beyond the summer transfer window, he may not be at the club for the long run. In addition, Cheick Doucoure has struggled with fitness issues during his spell with Crystal Palace.

So, several candidates, including Andy Diouf, have emerged on Crystal Palace’s radar, with Cajuste also a viable target for the South London outfit. However, the Eagles face stiff competition from Burnley, Besiktas, and Sevilla for the 25-year-old Swede’s signature.

Meanwhile, recent reports have also linked Cajuste with Aston Villa. So, another adventure in the Premier League may be on the cards for the Swedish international, with Napoli keen on parting ways with him on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
