Chelsea ready to pounce if Ethan Nwaneri doesn’t sign new Arsenal contract

Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Ethan Nwaneri’s situation at Arsenal and could pounce on any opportunity to sign him.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of Ethan Nwaneri. While the teenager attacking sensation is in talks with Arsenal regarding a new deal, the Blues are keeping a close eye on his situation. If the Gunners fail to secure his long-term future, Enzo Maresca’s team could pounce.

Nwaneri has been a part of the Arsenal setup since his childhood days. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team last summer. The 18-year-old right-winger has already featured in 39 matches for the senior side and has also contributed towards 11 goals.

While he had limited game time last season, Nwaneri certainly had an impact. With him entering the final year of his deal at Arsenal, multiple top clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation, and Chelsea are one of them.

Chelsea are closely monitoring Nwaneri’s situation

The Blues are constantly on the lookout for young players with massive potential, and the teenager certainly fits the bill. For now, Chelsea are yet to make a move, as they prefer to wait and see how the ongoing contract renewal talks between the player and his current club unfold.

Ezno Maresca’s team are quite keen on him and they would pounce on any opportunity to sign the 18-year-old winger, who prefers playing out wide on the right but can pretty much feature anywhere in attack.

The North London club are in talks with the youngster, who seeks guaranteed game time to pen a new deal. If Arsenal fail to convince him, the Blues could look to make the most out of the opportunity. The two clubs share a great relationship, and it might be one of the reasons why Chelsea are waiting in the wings rather than pushing hard to snatch him away.

With the Gunners working on a deal to sign Noni Madueke from the Blues, it will be interesting to see if they can guarantee the teenager an important role in the team for next season.
