Tottenham reject offer for Alejo Veliz

Tottenham have rejected a bid from Racing Club for wantaway striker Alejio Veliz, who wants to rejoin his former side Rosario Central.

According to Ole via Sport Witness, Racing Club have seen an improved offer for Alejio Veliz rejected by Tottenham. The Argentine side are unlikely to make another proposal as Spurs seek more money than the $7 million offered, as the wantaway striker still wants to make a return to his former side, Rosario Central.

Alejio Veliz is a big topic of discussion in the Argentine media, as the Tottenham striker is being chased by two clubs there. Racing Club and Rosario Central are the suitors for the highly-rated Tottenham attacker, as his future continued to hang in the balance following the latest update.

Racing Club had opened talks with Spurs over a move, with earlier reports claiming they had already made a $5 million offer to sign the attacker. The Argentine side also included a 30% sell-on clause to appease Tottenham, although there were no further updates as a follow-up.

It appears, Racing Club made an improved offer of $7 million to test Tottenham’s resolve. The north Londoners paid more than $17 million to sign the highly-rated Tottenham attacker from Rosario Central in the summer of 2023, and are seeking a good value when selling the striker.

It’s unclear whether they want more than what they paid for the striker, but certainly above the $7 million offered by Racing Club. Hence, Spurs have rejected the offer for Veliz, with Racing Club unlikely to return with an improved bid for the forward.

Alejio Veliz wants Rosario Central return

After spending the previous season on loan at Espanyol in underwhelming fashion, Veliz would be keen to rejoin his former side, Rosario Central. Earlier reports on the links stated the Argentine club had offered a loan deal, which Tottenham were eager to block as they wanted to send him to another European club.

As things stand, Spurs are clear about a permanent sale, but Veliz is being made to wait on a potential return to Rosario Central. It will be interesting to see whether the north Londoners take another gamble on the striker and allow him to rejoin Rosario Central on loan, as their preference is to sell him outright this summer.
