Tottenham fail with second bid to sign Mohammed Kudus
Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Mohammed Kudus is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 24-year-old West Ham United forward has emerged as a target for the North London club.
The 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners have already failed with one bid to sign the former Ajax attacker, and they returned with a package worth £55 million this week. However, the latest proposal has not convinced West Ham either, with the East London outfit demanding around £65 million to part ways with Kudus in the summer transfer window.
Mohammed Kudus and his West Ham United rollercoaster
Mohammed Kudus has blown hot and cold since joining West Ham United from Ajax in August 2023. The 24-year-old was exceptional in his debut season but endured an underwhelming 2024/25 campaign, having gone through the dreaded “second season syndrome”.
The Ghanaian international managed a paltry tally of five goals and four assists in 35 outings in all competitions in the 2024/25 season. However, Kudus remains a hot property in the market, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the player, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across London on the horizon?
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Mohammed Kudus makes sense. The Lilywhites are combing the market for a versatile attacker this summer amid uncertainties surrounding Richarlison’s long-term future. In addition, Timo Werner has returned to RB Leipzig after a dreadful loan spell, while Son Heung-min is approaching the twilight of his career.
So, Kudus has emerged as a viable target for Tottenham, with the former Ajax attacker keen on joining the North London outfit. However, the North London giants have failed with their latest bid to sign Kudus, having offered West Ham United a package worth £55 million to secure his services.
Tottenham had already failed with one bid worth £50 million to sign Kudus, and the latest proposal of £55 million entailed a base fee of £50 million and £5 million in add-ons. West Ham will demand around £65 million to part ways with the 24-year-old Ghanaian international, and it will be interesting to see if the Lilywhites return with a third offer.
