Monaco’s Ansu Fati: ‘I am fighting to get back to my best level.’
Ansu Fati (22) has struggled to build on the promise shown in the early days of his career at Barcelona. A loan spell at Brighton and Hove Albion in 2023/24 didn’t get the Spaniard’s career back on track, and last season, he made just 11 appearances for his formative club in what was an injury-hit campaign.
“First of all, I don’t see it as a bigger risk than other signings,” insisted AS Monaco’s CEO during the player’s presentation on Thursday. Fati has joined the Principality club on a season-long loan, which includes a permanent option.
He is determined to show the same levels that saw him touted as the next big thing just a few years ago. “I am fighting to get back to my best level, and I am here to try to do that,” he said in a press conference attended by Get French Football News.
He continued, “I think that change is good! This season, I will be here. I want to thank the club where I grew up; Barça is where I grew up. It was a great experience at Brighton, too, even if others think differently. I had an injury, and I couldn’t be consistent. I want to bring that [consistency] here.”
