Leeds United join race to sign Timothy Weah

Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 44-cap USMNT international Timothy Weah from Serie A club Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, Timothy Weah is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Juventus winger has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club, although they face stiff competition from Marseille.

Timothy Weah and his Serie A journey

Timothy Weah has made considerable progress since joining Juventus from LOSC Lille in July 2023. While the New York City native has not been an undisputed first-choice starter for the Serie A giants, he has played his part in the club’s return to the top four in Serie A in the 2024/25 season.

The 25-year-old has turned out 78 times thus far for Juventus while chipping in with seven goals and seven assists. Meanwhile, Weah’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe.

Marseille will look to beat the competition to Weah’s signature and aim to bring him back to Ligue 1 in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Premier League outfits, in particular, have shown interest in the 44-cap USMNT international, with Leeds United also among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

What next?

Leeds United’s interest in Timothy Weah makes sense. The Whites are scouring the market for a wide attacker this summer as they aim to sustain the challenge of remaining in the Premier League beyond the 2025/26 season. So, while Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto are top-notch performers for Leeds United, the West Yorkshire outfit can do with more options in the final third.

So, several attackers, including Nikola Krstovic, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Weah also a viable target. Meanwhile, the Juventus winger will not cost a bomb, with the Serie A giants demanding around €15 million to part ways with the 44-cap USMNT international in the summer transfer window.

However, Leeds United will face stiff competition from Marseille for Weah’s signature, with Les Phoceens eager to take him back to Ligue 1. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 25-year-old attacker.
