Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Aston Villa vying for Kees Smit

A host of Premier League clubs are interested in AZ Alkmaar midfield talent Kees Smit, who could leave after a successful U-19 Euros.

According to TBR, Kees Smit is a big target for many of the Premier League clubs ahead of the summer. The Dutch star impressed in the U-19 Euros for his country, as the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, and Aston Villa are all interested in the midfielder.

Kees Smit has come to the fore with his performances for the Netherlands Under-19 side. The midfielder was named the player of the tournament at the U-19 Euros, where the Dutch side triumphed by beating Spain in the Final, as he could consider his future at Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar.

Smit scored four goals and provided one assist during the tournament, as he is potentially headed to the Premier League this summer. The likes of Chelsea are one of the teams keeping close tabs on his situation, with the Blues always on the hunt for top young profiles in the market.

Tottenham are also keen and could offer him an exciting place in the squad that is brimming with young talent. The north Londoners are focused on bringing some of the best young profiles in the market, as their recent business of signing the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall shows.

Whether either of those London giants can bring him to their respective clubs will depend on whether the player feels there will be enough minutes on offer. Moreover, he has a contract until 2028, which has seen AZ Alkmaar demand at least €25 million to sell him if the time comes for a departure.

Manchester United and Aston Villa are keen

Aston Villa are another side who are juggling in the market to find the top profiles for many positions. They could view the potential spending of €25 million on the 19-year-old Dutch midfield sensation as an investment for the future, as they could ponder entering the chase. Villa, much like Chelsea and Tottenham, were reportedly present during the U-19 Euros to watch many players, including Smit.

Manchester United could ponder an approach if the conditions are right. While they would love to add a midfielder, the current idea leans towards someone with decent experience who elevates the current quality, as the investment needed to sign the 19-year-old Dutch midfield sensation would depend on whether they have enough funds after their essential business in the market.
