Arsenal ready to offer €70 million to sign Viktor Gyokeres
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are ready to table an offer worth €70 million to sign Sporting CP ace Viktor Gyokeres.
Viktor Gyokeres could be living his final weeks at Sporting CP as he is ready to take the next step in his career. According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal are keen on acquiring his services, and they are prepared to table a €70 million offer to bring him to North London.
Gyokeres has been on fire since joining the Portuguese giants in the summer of 2023 from Coventry City. In his 102 appearances for Sporting, he has found the back of the net on 97 occasions and has also bagged 28 assists.
His sensational performances in front of the goal have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. While quite a few clubs are keen on signing him, nothing concrete has happened so far. However, it seems Arsenal have started making moves to win the race for the 27-year-old.
Arsenal are making moves to sign Gyokeres
Mikel Arteta is not satisfied with the performances of his current forwards, and he is looking to bring in a world-class striker to help his team take the next step. They have been monitoring Gyokeres for weeks and feel he is the right fit for the club.
The Swedish striker could help them challenge for all major titles. His strong physical presence, goal-scoring instincts, and ability to link up with the wide forwards could significantly bolster Arsenal’s attack. The Gunners are quite serious about their pursuit and are gearing up to make a €70 million bid in the coming days.
The North London club are already working on the details of the deal that would include a long-term contract for the striker, which could be a five-year contract. They reportedly have the green light from the player’s end. Having made the final decision to go after his signature, the Gunners are confident about getting it over the line.
While Sporting CP are reluctant to lose one of their best players, they are aware of Arsenal’s interest and are unlikely to turn down that big an offer, as Gyokeres seems to have his heart set on a move to a bigger club. A move to Mikel Arteta’s team will certainly be of his interest as it will allow him to return to England and compete at the highest level.
