Victor Osimhen still attracted by Manchester United move

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Napoli outcast Victor Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen is certain to part ways with Napoli this summer. The Nigerian striker has been linked with multiple top clubs from across Europe, but there is still no certainty over where he will be playing next season.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, Osimhen could be heading to Manchester United even though they do not have Champions League football to offer. The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new number nine, and the Napoli striker remains interested in making a move to Old Trafford.

Osimhen has only gone from strength to strength since joining Napoli from LOSC Lille back in 2020. He has established himself as one of the best forwards in the world. While he still has a year left on his deal at the Naples-based club, he has no future there.

The 26-year-old’s relationship with the club broke down last summer. He was keen on leaving them, but things didn’t go according to plan. Osimhen eventually secured a loan move to Galatasaray. He had a sensational season for the Turkish giants as he contributed towards 45 goals, and it has ensured that the interest in his services remains intact.

Osimhen is still interested in joining United

While several top clubs have been linked with him, nothing concrete has materialised so far. Manchester United are among the sides that have frequently been associated with the Nigerian striker. The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new striker as Ruben Amorim wants a proven goal scorer to lead his line.

He would love to have someone like Osimhen in their ranks, but his massive wage demands could prove to be a problem. Apart from that, reports earlier suggested that he was keen on joining a club that had Champions League football to offer.

However, he still appears keen on a move to Old Trafford. While the Red Devils won’t be competing in Europe next season, they remain an attractive destination for Osimhen, with the club’s global stature and rich history continuing to appeal to him.

While it is a massive boost for the Manchester-based giants, it will be interesting to see if they are willing to break the bank to make it happen, given they are not in the best of financial situations.
