Everton inch closer to signing Thierno Barry, personal terms agreed

David Moyes’s Everton are closing in on the signing of Villarreal striker Thierno Barry, with personal terms already agreed.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton are keen on signing a new striker this summer, and they are within touching distance of the signature of Thierno Barry. The deal is believed to be in the final stages as the Merseyside club already have an agreement with the player on personal terms.

Barry made a name for himself at FC Basel before joining Villarreal last summer. He had an exceptional debut campaign at the Spanish club. The 22-year-old striker was involved in a total of 37 matches, and he ended up contributing towards 15 goals (11 goals, four assists).

It was an exceptional debut campaign for the French youth international, and it has put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs. While his contract at the Spanish clubs runs until the summer of 2029, and he is protected by a €40 million release clause, Villarreal are ready to negotiate his departure as long as the offer is close to the exit clause.

Barry is on the verge of joining Everton

Everton have emerged as a potential destination for the 22-year-old striker. The Merseyside club are desperately looking for a new forward as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has left the club as a free agent following the expiry of his contract. David Moyes is keen on having a top-quality number nine lead his line and is interested in having Thierno Barry in his squad.

The Toffees have been working on a potential deal to sign the Frenchman for some time. While their initial offer was not good enough, Everton did return with an improved offer. Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the Merseyside club are closing in on a deal to sign the young striker.

The deal is believed to be in the final stages as they already have the green light from the player. Barry wants to play in the Premier League, and he has an agreement in place on personal terms with Moyes’s team. If all goes according to plan, Everton could soon complete the signing of the former FC Basel forward.
