Chelsea learn asking price for Marc Casado
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea will have to fork out €50 million to sign Barcelona midfield sensation Marc Casado.
According to a report from Sport, Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of Marc Casado, and Barcelona could sanction the departure of their midfield sensation if they receive offers close to €50 million.
Casado has been a part of the Barcelona setup since 2016. He is yet another sensational talent to have graduated from La Masia. The 21-year-old midfielder got promoted to their first team last summer, and in his debut campaign, he was involved in 36 matches and even contributed towards seven goals.
While he was a regular starter in the first half of the season, a ligament injury opened the door for Frenkie de Jong, who cemented his spot in the XI. The club are now looking to renew the Dutch midfielder’s contract and is expected to be the preferred option going forward.
With 18-year-old Marc Bernal expected to be back in time for next season, Casado might not have as much game time as he did last season. While Barcelona rate the 21-year-old very highly and handed him a new deal last summer, they are still considering selling him this summer.
Barcelona are ready to sell Casado
The Catalan giants are in desperate need of funds and feel Casado’s departure could help their cause. They have enough options in midfield to cope with his loss. He is currently valued at around €30 million, and if there is an offer close to €50 million, they could sanction his departure.
The Spanish club are aware of the fact that Chelsea are interested in his services and they do have the finances to meet their demands. The Blues are always on the lookout for young players with massive potential, and Casado is an ideal fit for their project.
Maresca is keen on adding more quality to his midfield, and the 21-year-old could be a valuable addition to the squad. However, it remains to be seen whether the club are prepared to meet the hefty asking price.
More importantly, the move will only materialise if the player is open to leaving Barcelona, something that appears unlikely given his strong commitment to the club.
