
Barcelona & Real Madrid release statements in response to tragic death of Liverpool’s Diogo Jota
Spanish football’s two biggest clubs have on Thursday evening issued statements, in response to the sudden passing of Liverpool star Diogo Jota.
The name of attacker Jota has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across world football over the course of the day to date.
This comes after word was forthcoming that the Portuguese had been involved in a fatal car accident in Spain.
Both Jota and brother André lost their lives in the incident, leaving the game of football in a state of collective shock.
Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and his brother have both passed away due to traffic accident, reports Marca.

Deepest condolences, support, and thoughts are with those involved, his family and loved ones.

Messages of condolence have since come pouring in for all of Jota, his family, and friends.
And as alluded to above, providing their respective responses to the horrific news on Thursday afternoon were both Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
In a statement across their official website and social media platforms, Barca wrote:
‘FC Barcelona would like to express their sincerest condolences regarding the loss of Liverpool FC player Diogo Jota and his brother André. May they rest in peace.’

And Real Madrid have since followed suit with the following release of their own:

Real Madrid expresses its condolences and support to their family, loved ones and teammates at their respective clubs. Real Madrid shares in the deep sorrow felt by the footballing world. May they rest in peace.’
