Aston Villa eyeing Jaydee Canvot swoop

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are keen on acquiring the services of Toulouse’s teenage defensive sensation Jaydee Canvot.

According to a report from L’Equipe, Aston Villa are interested in the services of Jaydee Canvot. Their scouts have been keeping a close eye on him and are believed to be quite impressed with his abilities and his massive potential. Villa could soon knock on the doors of Toulouse for his signature.

Canvot joined the Toulouse youth setup back in 2021. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team at the start of the year. The 18-year-old centre-back has featured in a total of 20 matches for their senior side.

He worked his way into the team towards the second half of last season and managed to establish himself as a regular starter in no time. His impressive rise has certainly not gone unnoticed. The teenager was a part of the French Under-20 team that won the Maurice-Revello tournament last month.

He was one of their standout performers for the French side, and quite a few top clubs had their scouts keeping an eye on him. Aston Villa are one of the clubs that had their scouts on the stands constantly monitoring the teenager as they consider adding him to their squad.

Villa want to sign Canvot

His strong physical presence, impressive ball control and distribution, along with his massive potential, have made Canvot a top target for the Birmingham-based club. His ability to feature on either side of the defence, as well as a defensive midfielder, could come in handy for the English club.

While he might not be ready to be a regular starter for Emery’s team but the teenager can certainly prove to be an important squad player. More importantly, his potential suggests, he could become one of their mainstays in the long run.

Villa now appear to be the best placed to sign the 18-year-old. While Toulouse are yet to make a comment on his future, the report suggests they could let go of one of their most valuable assets as they look to raise funds. A potential deal could be completed for less than €20 million, which is certainly not that big a challenge for Villa’s team.
