Louie Barry poised to seal permanent move to Hull City

Louie Barry is set to seal a permanent transfer to Hull City as Aston Villa are ready to include a hefty sell-on clause in the deal.

According to The Athletic, Louie Barry is set to complete a permanent move to Hull City despite an unsuccessful loan. Aston Villa have inserted a substantial sell-on clause in the deal to secure the future value of the winger, who has shown immense promise in his development.

Louie Barry had an indifferent season the last time out; a successful loan spell in the first half of the campaign produced the goods, but the second part saw him get injured. The six-month spell at Stockport County produced 19 goal contributions, but his loan to Championship side Hull City lasted a meagre four games.

The reason for the latter was a knee injury, which has kept him out of action since mid-February. He is expected to turn up fit before the new campaign begins, and that will likely be with Hull City, who are set to sign the young attacker on a permanent deal from Aston Villa.

Despite the journeyman status Barry carries around due to his multiple loan spells, particularly after making the move to Aston Villa, he will hope for a more stable environment with the Tigers. The deal with Aston Villa is set to cost Hull City a fee in the region of £3.5 million.

Aston Villa have reportedly inserted a hefty sell-on clause in the deal, which allows them a share of any future profits the player might generate. Barry is viewed as a top prospect, and there are huge chances for him to develop into a bright star in the future.

Aston Villa’s summer plans

Unai Emery will not have counted a player like Barry as a part of his first-team plans ahead of the new season. There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding PSR about Aston Villa, as the club can sell some of their players. As for the additions, Emery is looking to bolster his attacking setup, with a new winger likely on the agenda.

There could be further arrivals like a striker if Ollie Watkins departs amid the exit lins, as the club prepares for life without Champions League money. As of now, their definitive plans remain unclear, but Villa Park could experience plenty of ins and outs this summer.
