Fulham, Newcastle United advance interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Fulham and Newcastle United have stepped up their pursuit of the signature of former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

According to a report from Football Insider, Dominic Calvert-Lewin could choose to continue in the Premier League following his Everton exit, with Fulham and Newcastle United keen on signing the English international. Both clubs see this as a great opportunity to snap up a top-quality striker on a bargain.

Calvert-Lewin has parted ways with the Merseyside club after nine long years. The experienced English striker is now officially a free agent, which means he is free to choose the next club he wants to play for.

The 28-year-old joined the Toffees back in 2016, and over the years, he was one of their mainstays. In his 273 matches for Everton, he scored 71 goals and even bagged 22 goals. While he was a key figure in the team, the recent past was not really that great for him, as he struggled to stay fit.

Last season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was involved in a total of 26 matches and could only contribute five goals. He started just 19 of those fixtures and missed a handful of games because of a hamstring injury. While the Toffees would have handed him a new deal despite his recent struggles, the 28-year-old decided it was time to try another challenge.

Rival clubs ready to push for Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin decided against signing a renewal, and with him now available for free, multiple top clubs from across Europe are after his signature. Meanwhile, Fulham and Newcastle United are ready to offer him the opportunity to continue in the Premier League.

Both Fulham and Newcastle United are in the market for a new striker, and they feel a proven Premier League star like Calvert-Lewin can certainly help their cause. With Raul Jimenez not getting younger, the Cottagers certainly need more quality and depth in the final third.

Meanwhile, the Magpies are looking at him as someone who can provide cover and support to star man Alexander Isak. Both English clubs are ready to step up their interest in him over the next weeks.

Newcastle United see this as a great opportunity to bolster their attack for free, even though they are well aware of his injury track record. They believe that if he manages to stay fit, Calvert-Lewin could prove to be a great acquisition as he still has a lot of football left in him.
