60 hours of community service for Ihattaren after assault and threats case
As per VoetbalPrimeur, Mohamed Ihattaren has been given a community service order of 60 hours by the Public Prosecution Service. He is being given this sentence for ‘being an accomplice in an attempted threat’ and assaulting his ex-partner.
The Public Prosecution Service reported that Ihattaren confessed to both cases in a hearing, in which he also expressed his regret.
The 60-hour community service order was based on several caveats. Namely, that Ihattaren has no previous convictions, the events date back some time (October 2022 and February 2023 respectively), and the fact that he sought help and has not come into contact with the Public Prosecution Service or the police since then.
On October 7, 2022, Ihattaren and an accomplice allegedly attempted to threaten someone. The Public Prosecution Service bases this on evidence that was obtained from a telephone conversation of Ihattaren, which was tapped in connection with another case (in which he was not a suspect). He allegedly incited another person to threaten someone, although this ultimately did not happen.
On February 11, a report from his then-partner was added to that. She stated that she had been abused by Ihattaren, who had allegedly hit her several times. Ihattaren was arrested in Amsterdam at the time. Although the ex-partner in question later wanted to withdraw the report, the footballer was still prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service.
