Nick Woltemade rejects Chelsea, wants Bayern Munich move
VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade has reportedly turned down Chelsea and Napoli as he wants to join Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by German reporter Julian Agardi, Nick Woltemade is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old VfB Stuttgart centre-forward emerged as a target for the West London club.
In addition, Woltemade has been a target for 2024/25 Serie A winners Napoli. However, the Bremen native has snubbed the two European bigwigs, as he wants to join Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. The VfB Stuttgart striker has “even expressed his wish” to the Bundesliga club “several times”.
Who is Nick Woltemade?
Nick Woltemade has established himself as one of the best young attacking prospects in the Bundesliga since joining VfB Stuttgart from Werder Bremen last summer. The 23-year-old hit the ground running at the MHP Arena, as he contributed to 20 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 17 times and providing three assists.
Woltemade was impressive in the DFB Pokal, in particular, as he amassed five goals and one assist in five outings. The player’s exploits helped him break into his national side, and the new German international has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs with his exploits. Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Chelsea’s interest in Nick Woltemade is surprising. However, the Blues want to bolster their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window despite securing Liam Delap’s services earlier this month. So, several candidates have emerged on Chelsea’s radar, with the VfB Stuttgart centre-forward also a viable target.
However, Chelsea will lose the battle for Woltemade’s signature, as he wants to join Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. While the Bundesliga champions have Harry Kane as the first-choice striker, the English international is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career.
So, signing Woltemade will future-proof the Bayern Munich attack. The 23-year-old German international has “even expressed his wish” to the Bundesliga club “several times”. So, Chelsea must look elsewhere for a new striker, with Woltemade keen on joining Bayern Munich.
