Manchester United are busy with strengthening their first-team squad in this window, with some key signings expected to arrive. However, they are not ignoring the behind-the-scenes aspect of youth development, as they are eager to build for the future from the ground up.
In recent months, the club have stepped up their efforts to strengthen the developmental team, as they have focused on players they could sign from elsewhere as well as internal solutions. For instance, they did sign Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal’s academy, with the duo already showing signs they can be promising first-team prospects in the not-so-distant future.
The duo has already made their mark in Ruben Amorim’s first team, with Heaven making a rather big impact before injury struck the defender. There is another centre-back in their youth ranks who has gained momentum in Manchester United’s thinking of the future as they are now rewarding a certain Jayden Ngwashi for his impressive rise in the youth ranks.
Ngwashi, a 16-year-old Italy-born England youth international, has already made his mark for the Under-18 and the Under-21 teams despite his age. The Red Devils have shown him a clear pathway for the future and the teenager has snubbed the interest from other Premier League sides as he’s set to pen a four-year Scholarship deal with the Red Devils.
