Inter Signing Bonny, Tweak Their Offensive Strategy
Inter have come to terms with Parma to add Ange-Yoan Bonny. They were already keen on him leading up to the transfer market, and the appointment of Christian Chivu only intensified their interest.
According to Sky, the Nerazzurri will pay €23M plus €3M add-ons for the Frenchman. They staved off a late attempt from Stuttgart. Napoli had shown interest in previous months, but they have been focusing on Darwin Nunez and Lorenzo Lucca recently.
Bonny will join Inter after entering his fifth year in Italy. Parma signed him on a free from Chateauroux in 2021. He progressively worked his way up the ladder and became an integral part of the Ducali squad in the last two campaigns. He tallied 15 goals and 12 assists in 117 games with his former team. The 21-year-old scored 6 times and dished out 4 helpers in his maiden Serie A season. He’ll take the medicals on Tuesday and then ink a five-year contract, earning €2M annually.
The Nerazzurri will stop searching for further offensive reinforcements. Francesco Pio Esposito has looked good during the FIFA Club World Cup, and he’s highly likely to stay put. Things could change if the Scudetto runner-ups offloaded Mehdi Taremi. They had been tracking Rasmus Hojlund but weren’t close to reaching an agreement with Manchester United, TuttoSport relayed.
Our Take on Inter and Bonny
He’s a very nice player and, at worst, he’ll be a sound deputy for Marcus Thuram given his tremendous mobility for his size and playmaking ability. They have different traits, but it’s noteworthy that they didn’t halt their chase to evaluate Esposito from up close. They risk being a tad too unproven behind their starters, but they won’t lack energy and explosiveness.
